Party Packs - Safari for the boys and Garden Silly for the girls!
This week's order was for a special boy who turned 10 - finally a decade old :)
Each cupcake was personalized with the kids' names and I'm sure they must have been so excited to see their own named-cupcakes! Each was lovingly packed in a dome-shaped container so that they could further enjoy their cupcakes at home!

His mummy had requested 2 different themes. One from my Garden Silly post and the other from my Animals Inspiro post.
Oh boy was I excited to finally do the safari theme cupcake! So I chose 5 of my favourite animals from the safari theme - Elephants, Monkeys, Zebras, Giraffes and Lions! Molded the little figurings and topped them up on rich chocolate cupcakes. My favourite animal to mold would be the monkey, somehow I just love the little cute ears!
The girls also had something special as well ... Little Gardens on each cupcake! Made little butterflies, red dotted mushrooms and honeybees for the whimsical garden theme :)

The more I look at a Patek, the more I want one.
The title says it all ! To be honest, I had never thought of owning a Patek Philippe watch. Neither had I ever figured out why someone would spend thousands on such a watch! However, after this week's order - which gave me the perfect excuse to ogle for a Patek Phillppe watch image, I think I've started to understand why.
The Patek is such a exquisite watch and I just could not bring myself to present the cake in a boring white box. So I hunted around several art shops till I finally found the perfect, embossed black box! Slap on a sleek black label and ...wa-la! The perfect little black box. That's one lucky hubby.
The sleek curves and lovely rose gold/safari black finishes are just so classic. I want one. Well... someday I guess :)
This weekend's order was from a lovely lady who wanted to surprise her watch-crazy hubby with a watch cake. She couldn't afford a real one.. so the alternative? A sugary sweet watch cake with an almost equally exquisite Patek watch!
The possibilities are just endless.. I'm starting to really love the art of baking.

A Merry Ho Ho Ho...
Oh Christmas is here again! I just love the joy that's in the air when it comes to Christmas time :) Everywhere you go ... people seem to have a "bounce" in their step as they buzz around buying lil' presents for their loved ones. As the year comes to an end, work takes a back seat as we all indulge ourselves in the festive spirit of giving and appreciation. Oh how I wish everyday could be Christmas!
Making Christmas cupcakes have always been one of my favorites - simply because there are always smiles, happiness and the warmth of family love when you celebrate Christmas.
ButterFingers was hard at work this week as she shared her love for sugar creations by baking lots of yummy cupcakes !
Packed the yummy rich chocolate cupcakes in cute pink boxes, wrapped it with gold ribbons, topped up with a mini card .. filled it with lots of love. Merry Christmas everyone!

UK Cupcakes
This week's order was rather interesting.
A lovely British lady was going for a tea party organised by her chinese teacher. They were told to bring something that represents their country... so here comes ButterFingers expertise! Boutique cupcakes made for any occasion! :)
I must admit I had to do some research prior to making the figurings, as it has been a while since I last went to the UK. Some of the sights that immediately came to my mind - the Underground sign, the red phone booth, the red postbox, a red rose (which is actually the national flower of England!) and of course English tea!
The cupcakes were made with fresh granny smith apples and grounded cinnamon. A cup of tea anyone?
Whimsical flowers
I got a request today from a bunch of zesty ladies who love the water. What exactly about water? Well Aqua Aerobics! For those who don't know (I quote from Wiki)
Water aerobic workouts usually combine a variety of techniques from land activities including walking or running backward and forward, jumping jacks; along with various arm movements. The workout also may incorporate equipment such as flotation belts, specialized water aerobics shoes, flotation devices, & ankle and wrist weights.
Interesting! Maybe I should pick that up one day too since I've been too lazy to exercise these days!
Coming back to the cupcakes ... I made 12 cupcakes in total - 5 featuring a new idea I picked up recently. Pastel coloured 2D flowers... Love the gentle petals which give some "realness" to the flowers and the curly-wurly stems that give it a whimsical look. The rest of the 7 were made simple - similar to my earlier Garden Silly order but in sweeter pastel!
Sent the order over in a apple green cupcake stand - perfect for their tea time party by the pool!

Precious Moments for a precious baby girl
Mommies of little girls seem to have a knack for super-girly sweet looking cakes! A very sweet request for baby Giselle's full month celebration. I love the innocence and gentleness of these Precious Moments figurings and thus I wanted to keep the 2 tier cake as pure and simple as possible - decorated the cake with simple flower bulbs and dressed it up a little with a lovely white bow.
Made tiny alphabet blocks with "Giselle" spelt out. Simple but ever so lovely - you can just feel the love this mummy has for her daughter :)
In addition, Giselle's mummy had also requested for 70 baby-theme cupcakes. Little booties, teddy-teddies, Little bopeeps, milky bottles, tiny dresses were just some of the sugarpaste toppings that adorned the little cupcakes. There were too many to squeeze into one shot so here's just a few for all of you to enjoy! It was displayed on a 6 tier white cupcake stand.
The figurings for these cupcakes took forever to complete, but I thoroughly enjoyed baking this order!

Made 3 flavours to please all the guests - ChocoBanana, Aroma Mocha and Vanilla Raisins.
Welcome to our world sweetie baby Giselle!

Safari Mania
Got a cute request this week from a 4 year old boy who loves animals. A Safari-theme cake was the call of the day.. a baby lion, cute baby zebra and an adorable giraffe sprawled next to a small waterhole. I simply love the colourfulness of this cake with it's lovely teal sky and perky coconut tress! I experimented with the baby lion's mane by combining layers of sugarpaste cut out in "frillies". The end result came out pretty decent!
It was a hit with the birthday boy Daniel as his 10 friends could not keep their eyes off the cake! :) Daniel's mum's request was very specific - "No sweet chocolate or any buttercream. This boy loves his cake plain and to taste like Polar Swiss Roll." Was indeed amused by this boy-that-does-not-like-chocolate ! So i made a very simple vanilla japanese sponge cake filled with very light fresh cream and a sprinkle of super fine sugar - just like Polar Swiss Roll ! :)
Happy 4th Birthday Daniel!

Pink Polka Dots
I had a really lovely, sweet order over the weekend for a 1 year old girl. I love it when mummies request for the sweetest cakes for their little daughters! I saw some of the pictures taken at the party and just seeing the smiles on little Amanda's face and everyone else's around makes all the hard work well worth it!
This two tier cake took forever to bake and create. It was a relatively large cake with an 11 inch base and 6 inch top - filled with oozles of decadent rich chocolate banana cake! The 6 little "Amanda" teddy bears took quite a while to mould as the bears had to dry up sufficiently before the actual day.
Notice the pink polka dot cake base? I was absolutely delighted when i found this at the "Paper Market" in Raffles City, was indeed the inspiration of the whole theme!
I made 20 cupcakes for the birthday party as well.. and you guessed it - more pink polka dots! Had a delightful time creating the garden theme in sweet pink. At the end of the day, I was beaming baker filled with super girly joy. :)

Chanel oh Chanel ...
Loved this cake order. An interesting cake order for a frivolous, sassy friend who was leaving Singapore for work. Her passion is shopping, her favourite brand is Chanel so what better way than to celebrate her new adventure with a Chanel cake! Under the decadence is even more decadent dark chocolate fudge cake with fresh bananas.
I had a good time moulding the shoes and bag. Had to indulge in quite a bit of research as I have never owned a Chanel! The challenge was in creating the shiny "leathery" texture to the sugarpaste . Glad it turned out well received at the party!

Durian - the king of fruits!
Had a cute request from a friend today. She wanted a cake for a friend who had just returned from overseas and loved durians. Decided to put a little bit of creativity into it and made it look like a real durian...complete with durian stem!
My whole kitchen smelled of durian for 2 whole days, guess I'll need to find a better way to store the cake without making my eggs smell of durians too! The tricky part was having to grate the creamy durian from the fibre and boy did that make quite a mess in the kitchen! Anything for a good authentic durian cake i reckon!

King of Soccer
This weekend's order was for a friend's dad who loved both durians and soccer! So a perfect combination of yummy durian custard cake with a soccer theme!
I forgot to take a picture of the moulded chocolate behind the goalie ... he's a Liverpool fan.. so it was a custom made shield complete w the torches at the sides!
Garden Silly
Really chirpy theme chosen for a doctor to thank his fellow colleagues in his hospital ward. I had quite a fun time creating the cute mushrooms, sweet butterflies and even the lovable ladybugs!
My favourite pieces were the little red mushrooms which reminded me of Super Mario Brothers! The magic mushroom that makes him grow :) I love this garden theme, think i shall try to expand to more little bugs next time ...
Under the sugary fondant lies yummilicious coffee pecan cupcakes with coffee cream, chocolate banana cupcakes and cinnamon apple cupcakes.

Strawberry Shortcake Galore
Little Samantha's 5th birthday today! And as per her mummy's request, she wanted it all pink, red and pink, pink, pink Strawberry Shortcake. I thought they had disappeared during my teenage years, but apparently these small, little, strawberry cuties are back with a vengeance!
It seems that Strawberry's fashion style has changed since I last saw her - pink dyed hair, short pink skirt and cool pink croc-looking shoes. Updated with the times! But one thing is for sure, she's every little girl's best friend! :) Enjoy!
